The release of the new album beat competition from other well established artists such as: Linkin Park, Phil colins and Robert Plant, to reach the top spot in the first week of release 18th sep 2010 which has stayed in the top two positions moving back and forth for four weeks now.
Leading up to the date of the release there was lots of primetime airplay on television seeing this advert up to 3 times a night and promoting the bands 11 day UK tour starting 14th march 2011.
Chart Positioning diagrams for album and single
The first diagram shows the positioning of the album in the first 4 weeks and how it maintained first and second places in the UK album charts respectively moving in and out of the top two spots.
Also the release of "For the first time" the first single release from the album (Science and Faith) this shows how the single came in at number 5 in the first week gained a place in two weeks following, then slowly fell in the charts but still in a very respectable position only just outside the top 10.
